…biographical
Finbarr Clancy
Born: March, 1970, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland
Group Member: 1996-1998
Bobby Clancy continued on as "The Clancys" with Finbarr, and Eddie Dillon from 1998 to 2002
Continuing the touring tradition of the Clancy family, Finbarr is a talented musician in his own right. Along with his guitar, flute and vocals, his dynamic stage presence is a great addition to the group. Growing up in the Clancy dynasty, Finbarr was plucking the banjo and practicing the bodhran from age 5. While maintaining a musical connection to his contemporaries Finbarr's love of the singing tradition is apparent as soon as he walks on the stage. His smile is contagious and his voice—from the sentimental ballad to the raucous "come all ye"—wins over audiences in every performance. Finbarr is a keystone of the group, insuring that Clancy music will continue for many generations.
